This year Rear Engine American Racers was extremely fortunate to have Jim Donovan of Max-Torque along with Scott Kneisel and Gary Wlodarsky donate some super nice items for our annual bonus raffles.

Saturday night at the awards banquet we jokingly conned Jim Donovan into donating one of his Max-Torque engine clutchs to be raffled off amoungst all in attendence. After awarding this years BIGGIE winners and presenting The Achievment Award we had Jim come up and pull the lucky winning ticket. Ted Johnson of Arizona was the lucky winner and Jim said he would build the clutch to the winners specs and for their choice of engine model. Big Thanks to Jim on this one, this was a super nice prize from a great fellow and everyone is very honored to have Jim Donovan in the historical karting family.

On Sunday we had what we called 'THE BIG BONUS' raffle and the winning prize was a super nice completely restored Mc6 featuring a core motor that was donated by Gary Wlodarsky and then masterfully rebuilt by Scott Kneisel.

In order to shake things up a bit we had Scott and Gary each draw 2 tickets at the beginnng of our Sunday general raffles and that boiled the field down to 4 eligable participants and then we made them wait...and wait...and wait... till the end of the general raffles to see who would be the lucky motor winner.

Time to shake things up even more so now we took the final four contestants and went to a reverse raffle format to make things even more exciting. When this new format was announced the looks on the faces of the final four and the laughter and cheers from the crowd made it very clear this was the right thing to do.

One at a time Scott drew a ticket from the final four eliminating one contestant then Gary drew a ticket eliminating another contestant and this brought the field down to Shawn Engel from Canada and Alex Tenney from Pennsylvania as the last two men standing and the next ticket drawn would spell doom for one and BOOM for the other.

With the tension in the air so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw Scott reached in and grabbed the final ticket. Of course we took our good old time calling out the last number and when it was finally read Alex Tenney got his walking papers and Shawn Engel was walking on cloud 9 with a newly restored Mc6. Congratulations to Shawn and hopefully his heart rate is back to normal again.

Huge THANKS go out to Scott and Gary one more time for making this raffle possible. You guys are the best.
Everyone has a chance to win but who will be the last man standing?

This is a very large "Thank You" to Jim Donovan for the donation of the Max Torque clutch at The Big One. I was very lucky and happy to win it. My pal, Charlie Craibe, is installing my old BM Atlas open onto my old Bug Black Widow, and Jim agreed to custom fit the clutch to the Atlas. This'll be fun for Charlie, as he's never gotten to drive a sidewinder, and the open Atlas will push it along pretty quickly. Thanks again to Jim, Rob and Bob for everything! Ted

Thanks, Gary. I agree with you that Jim Donovan is a real treasure. He's ALWAYS ready to help, plus he builds a quality product.
Sorry for using the evil s&#%winder word here, but Charlie has been putting up with me for over 50 years, and I think he deserves to see how "the other half" live. I have pix of Charlie sitting in the Black Widow/Atlas at the 1984 Ft. Myers, Florida street race, but he never got to drive it, and he deserves the chance. It's great that he still has both the kart and the engine. I refreshed the engine for him this winter, and it still has stock bore. It should be a blast. TJ
