I've been offered a Chaparral roller for $1000. It is in need of a full restoration and I'm wondering if this is a fair price. I've attached a photo for your reference.
Thanks in advance for your guidance!!

Did somebody already bag the fuel tank? The correct tank will set you back close to half what the kart costs.

Re: Chaparral Roller Value?
Michael,
My 2 cents for what its worth (probably less than I invested). With two unimounts and the turbine wheels, you could part it out and almost recover your investment. That said, big dollars ahead to restore it: the steering wheel is wrong; you need the Chilton large tank which is hard to find and expensive when you do find one; the wheels & pedals will need to be rechromed; need new hardware; unimount side mounting plates with integral chain guards; tie rods; bearings; new upholstery and new paint. I'm guessing another $2k and you still have a roller! The seller ain't giving it away but price isn't outrageous if you really want it. Should make a nice kart.

Re: Chaparral Roller Value?
I don't remember the Chaparral having those front axle braces.... are they add-ons?
If the frame is not screwed up in some way then the price is not out of line for a kart with four good turbine wheels, two good Uni mounts, correct pedals, tie rods etc.
Looks to me like the steering shaft was shortened for a "large" driver so the hoop had to be leaned forward a lot.
Hard to find a more complete original Chapparal than that and there are few chassis more popular with the vintage karting crowd so I would grab it.
