Clinton Exhaust Stack Cleanup

Gurus- I was thinking (uh-oh) of removing material off the two bumps just inside the inlet, in order to improve flow. These headers are A- number one, but seem necked down a good amount a little ways into the inlet, for screw head clearance on the outside.
These are the ones that go on the AH 58's, with two small threaded holes at the outlet end. Is there enough metal in the aforementioned bumps to take off before breaking through? Please tell me if you've done this operation. Thanks, Bill

Are you talking about the Clinton chainsaw headers that PP guys use?

Yes, Terry. They have the two small threaded holes at the outlet end, probably for some kind of baffle or spark arrestor. They fit right on the PP AH 58-61's. It is perfect for my road racing minibike, because the jog in the stack makes it point straight back as the motor is tilted for chain clearance. Just don't like the restriction at the entry. Bill

I have a few of them and I have a screen that fits the small bolt holes at the outlet end.
I'll take a look at the bumps and see what is there.

I looked at my stacks and I really don't think there is much material there.
You might take 1/16 of an inch off, but I don't think it would be worth the trouble.
The E65 version of that stack has the same problem.
