Ok guys, new member and new to vintage Karts. Thought I would post some pics of my first restoration. I picked this frame up for a $100 bucks at a swap meet because it looked like the one I had as a kid. Turned out to be a Clarke (I think). It was very rough and figured the frame was nothing special so I decided to have some fun and go with a cheeseball gold metal flake paint job and pinstriping. Found the tank on an old Allis Chalmers lawn mower in a junk yard. My 8 year old son named it "The McFlyer"...classic. I strapped on a Preditor 6.5 HP from Harbor Freaight which is a great motor for the money in a fun kart application. Found some speed parts at NR Racing and this thing flys!! Little to quick for the kids but tons of fun. Hooked now and looking for my next project, what you got??? I'm in Charlotte NC. Thanks for looking.

looks more like the later rupp fun kart to me.
i've never seen the bearing hanger in the back like that on a clark.

regardless a really nice job.
love the pin stripping and little details.
now we need to get you doing a vintage racing kart.

i find karts all the time what are you looking for era wise.
the historics have the coolest looking frames.
the middle years are alot like what you have and then you have the sidewinders.
post what you like we're all about helping new guys finding and getting a vintage ride going.

Nice work , Like the flake . You can alway limit the throtle so the kids can run it .
The original tie rod ends are worth money if they are what I think they are .

Yes, what happened to those original tie rods? I'd like to buy them if they're available?

Thanks for the notes guys, glad you appreciate the goofy retro paint job.

I still have the origional tie rod ends. They are a ball joint style with a rubber sleeve covering them. The tie rod arms are quite pitted, but believe the ends are still in pretty good shape. Happy to sell them so please email me if interested, not sure what there worth.

I would like to find a "classic" kart racing type frame. Just starting so nothing specific but would like to have one that was origionally set up for twin engines, number plate mounted on steering columne and seat back mounted gas tank. Also wouldnt mind finding one that offered a little more leg room but not mandatory. Were all race frames generally the same length?? Would like to find on in realitively good shape with origional parts still intact. I had to replace every moving part on the last one which started to add up.

thats a nice kart i have one just like it.found it at an old lawn mower repair shop.i did not know what it was until now.so its not a race kart or is it just a vintage fun kart?

Mid 70's fun kart copied off a Dart. Has more ground clearance, brackets are different etc....
