Super helpful. Need this for my Cushman too!

Oh, jeeze, probably filed away somewhere.......
The circuit is simple though.
Just wall currant through a bridge rectifier, to the caps.
Then a big ass relay that will handle the mega amps.
And then large enough windings on the pole pieces to drop the caps really quick.

I used a timer to charge the caps, and then kill the source of power.
You want to hit the magnets with a strong surge, and kill it.
If there is a small residual currant, or the source is still hooked up, you will get weaker magnets, because they 'remember' the strength of the last magnetic field applied to them.

You need to use VERY low carbon steel for the pole pieces, and it should be laminated.
1005 is good.
Dig out an old physics book, and all the math should be in there.

The higher the voltage you design the system around, the better.
Later units I made used a voltage quadrupler circuit, and caps to match.

Warning, this type of voltage will kill you !!

When you go to buy a relay, figure out how big of one you need, and triple it!
Don't use solder on the main connections to, or from the relay,
it will vaporize !
It's strange to see lead plazma bouncing around on your work bench,
it is a cool florecent green color that leaves a burn spot every time it bounces off from something.

How would you know......expierence?

Sounds like safety glasses and someone ready to call 911 should be there also from a safe distance.

You can find out how to build them on the net with some searched for "Magnet Zapper"

Yup!
Sorry. haven't even tried looking for info on them on the net.
I have seen little pissy-ass ones being sold to the RC guys that just use 115 wall currant, and no capacitors.
They do little, or nothing.

Hell, maybe I should offer a service.......
If I get time, I will build up some new pole pieces to fit Nac flywheels.

Darv,

If you send down your flywheel, I'll try zapping it.
But I need to know which pole is north, and which is south.
Does a compass do anything by the poles, or is it completely dead?
If it's completely dead, do you have another flywheel that isn't that you can check?

All it will cost you is the return shipping.
