Hello guys.
I'm a newbie here. I have what I believed was a Putt-nik Phantom. I was not very sure till I saw the u-tube video on the home page. I said dang thats the kart... Yep, all the way up here in Missoula Montana. It is running a Mc-10. Or I should say until my brother and I blew it up in our never ending quest for speed....
It has a great story. My uncle bought it in 63 in Great Falls MT and ran the stink out of it. He gave it to my brother and me in 76 and we ran the stink out of it twice. It had a hard life and is in need of a little tlc now.
I've put my street rod projects (yep more than one going at a time..) on the back burner and am going to rebuild her to her former glory...
Please excuse the 30 years of dust..... You could call it a barn find. Got it back out of the rafters of the barn where it was put in 82.
It is missing a few pieces that I can work on finding.. So, If you guys don't mind I will probably be asking a few stupid and some really stupid questions.. Thank You guys.

Anybody doing Rupp Mini Bikes.... I seem to have acquired a 70 Rupp Roadster...I just never ends does it.

Welcome Greg, There are several of us in that trying to regain youth category, ha ha ha . Your Putt Nik looks like one of the better ones considering its age.Our resident expert on Putt Niks is John McCorvey, " THE Putt Nik Dude ". He has several and has done a lot of research.He is in Atlanta area and am sure will chime in here .Have fun , Chris

that's a really nice puttnik phantom i think.
a really neat looking kart though really heavy.

if you need help with the mc10 i can provide parts and also tell you which saw parts interchange.
knowing me you'll be buying a saw or two as i rarely sell stuff.

if you wanna build the engine yourself we can walk you through that.
if you want to have it done i have two favorite guys.

For a pure racing rebuild you want to try Rick Chapman in ohio.
for the most anally retentive, perfect restoration rebuild Scott Kniesel out of N.Y. is excellent.
you will be getting in line with either guy but their turn around is usually less than a month.
terry Ives out of california is also excellent but i've only used Terry as a parts resource.

Man that is a nice survivor . Dont restore it ,,, its only original once . It looks like it would clean up real nice . Rebuild the motor , replace what you must to make it a safe runner . jmho

man that is one very nice looking kart for a barn find....rebuild the motor, but don't touch the kart....other than general clean up ,very nice!!!!!!!

ps,,you'll find alot of of fat guys on here........and just some old guys..

Thank You all for the positive feedback.. You guys have hit on one of my quandries... restore or not. It has character now....... but could be a beauty.....
