Lancer Rupp to Jefferies

Post by Dave Brillhart » Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:39 am

Trying to date my two Lancers, a late Enduro Chaparral clone, and a Big J sidewinder sprint. Question is when did Rupp stop making Lancers and when did Big J start? Thanks, Dave

Sidewinder sprint is probably 1970 / 71. It was on the cover of a Wiseco catalog. Without looking up dates Hancock Diesel 1958-59 Lancer 59-65 then had Dart build them then 70-71 Lancer then sold to Walt Myers about 71-72.

Here's an ad from 1965. I'm pretty sure Rupp was manufacturing Lancers as early as 1963. From what I've learned, Rupp went from the 4 inch to the 5 inch turbine front wheels for 65.
