It is a "Rosebud" kinda thing. Guy's today are willing to pay $2,500-$3,500 and more for a go kart that cost new $289. at the same time a Ford Cobra cost $5,995 E-Jag's $5,995 a brand new VW $1,300. Ruthy is Art Ingels wife and she's still here, isn't that great. Even a new Kart that is a winner today is pushing $10,000 and we're still having a ball for a few grand... It's still all about the thrill of the hunt! Kinda like John Wayne in the "Searchers".

Yes, but....
What cost $389 ($289 rolling chassis + $100 motor & misc parts) in 1964 (random year)would cost $2,621.81 in 2007. So in reality, A restored kart costs about the same as it did new.
If you think that is expensive, imagine a 1979 Hartman dual-enduro which retailed for $5,000 new without motors/pipes, clutches etc, it would cost you about $14,389.53 in 2007 dollars. Gotta love inflation.

That $5,900 dollar Cobra is over $100,000 now. It's like our folks and the 5 miles walk to school thing. Does anyone have pictures from the old B-liner track in Vancouver,Washington?
