Mc101 crankcase end cover gasket/sealant

I'm re-assembling one my my Mc101s. The crankcase end cover gasket did not survive the disassembly process, and I have not been able to locate a new gasket anywhere. I've been told you can just skip the gasket and use RTV or other good sealant here.

What do you think about not using a gasket?

If I find a gasket, should I use a sealant too?

What sealant would you recommend? I have clear RTV, red high-temp RTV, Hylomar, and Copper-Coat.

Phil,

If the stuffer misses the crankshaft when you turn the engine over you can leave the gasket out. I use Ultra Grey RTV that I buy at NAPA. You can probably get the gasket from GEM if you want one. If you don't have their number e-mail me for it.

NAPA sells gasket paper in different thickness. Easy to cut out.

Thanks for your help, guys.

There's a small amount of end play, even with no gasket, so I'll probably just skip the gasket and use Hylomar.

btw, since I started this thread, I found that Marmax Karts and Parts does sell the gasket.
