i have just bought a pair of tilloston hl187a carbs from the vintage kart site. when i received the carbs, they did nothave high speed needles in them. instead, the have a plug over the hole, and when you unscrew the plug there is what seems to be a screw in motorcycle type main jet in the bottom of the hole. there is a fuel passage drilled into the cavity that goes into the main area under the pumper diaphram. all seems factory. my questions are, i cannot find any info on a 187a carb, the closest i can find is hl189. is it possible the covert this back to a screw type main? what the heck do i have? any ideas?

mike ..im no big carb master or nothin like that ..but i have few fixed jet tillotsons ..and from what ive gathered they used them mostly on equipment..generators,tampers,lawnmowers,ect ..i think maybe chainsaws too.. and most of the ones i got were on west bends that were once chainsaw engines ..regular 2 needle tillotsons are so easy to get i just parts the fixed jet ones out .. ive never messed with trying to drill and tap one for a screw in needle ..also all mine are really small like 88s ..hope someone will tell us whats what ..
