Does anybody have pictures of a Clinton E60?
I think I have enough parts to build one last Clinton replica.
Apparently the E60 was only around for a short time and I have no pictures or IPLs for it.
Watch for my last E65 replica on ebay soon.

Terry, we were Clinton distributors from about 1953 through 1962, and I don't remember an E-60 in any of the literature. There was a D-60 SAW in '59 and '60. Mike Acres has a PTO side photo on his site, and it looks like the standard cast aluminum shroud saw like the D-65. The D-60-G1 (gear drive) is pictured on the site. I never saw a true Clindon kart engine with the cast shrouds, though it's possible they made one and we just never saw it. I had a pair of the diaphragm carb Deluxe E-65's as soon as they came out. I know I've seen others speak of the E-60, but I never actually saw one. TJ

Ted,
I have an article somewere that talks about the E60 being replaced by the E65. I'm pretty sure that the E60 used the D65 cast shroud and maybe the D65 manifold and a D35/D65 block. When the E65 replaced the E60, the E65 got it's own manifold and used a variation of the D35 stamped cooling shroud.
Maybe you are right in that the D60 or E60 was never really released as a kart engine??
I know Bug offered a Clinton 'Competition Model' engine around 1959. It is on an old brochure and it appears to be a modified chainsaw engine. It does NOT have the E60/D65 cast aluminum shroud.

I always wondered what engine the Bug Competition Model was. Dad never asked Tom Pierson, but we figured it was a modified D-35, which had ball/needle bearings and the standard Clinton 5.78 cubic inch displacement. You never know, it may've been the elusive E-60! If Clinton ever did sell the E-60, I'll bet it was a karterized D-60 saw. TJ

Awhile back, there was a guy out here in California who had a survivor Rocket kart for sale. It had an E-60, which was documented with the original sales literature. The guy also had an ad clipped from an old magazine showing the E-60, along with other engines. It looked like a D-65 saw but with a straight intake and kart style crank. I have pictures............somewhere.......and will send them to you if I can ever find 'em.

Ted,
The Bug brochure picture I have looks like a D35 with a modified manifold. It is a lefty though, which is wrong for a D35. I need to look little closer as I have seen some Bug brochures with backwards pictures.
Like an MC-5 with the sprocket on the left!
Russ,
That would be swell if you could find a picture. I was hoping it had the chainsaw manifold as i have run out of the straight E65 manifolds.
