Working at putting together the 1-50 engine I have and am very new to points style ignition. Some info would be very helpfull. I should have taken a pic before I took it apart but hindsight is 20 20. Anyways if someone has a pic showing the detail of the various parts and there locations that would be helpfull. I obviously know where the points and coil are mounted and have the gap specs but the wiring is what is throwing me off. Thank you

I'll try to talk you through this. Go to the engines section of this web site, locate the original McCulloch IPL for the Mc 5. I will refer to the drawing numbers on Figure 2 - Powerhead Assembly. The wire from the condensor (#15) goes to the post on the points. Don't forget the insulation (#11). The primary wire female end (#33) also attaches to the same post on the points. The male end of the primary wire plugs into the double female socket on the coil (either socket). The ground wire from the coil (#32) is connected to the mounting screw of the coil lamination (#26). The ground wire is connected to a single female socket on the coil and/or is almost always soldered to it so you shouldn't mix up the primary and the ground wire. See Service Bulletin K -152 in the Engines Section of this web site for flywheel gap setting procedure. Good luck.

thanks thats what appeared to be correct as after time wires seem to go to there original location from being bent that way for so long. I thought I may have been missing something. THanks

One more thing real quick, does it matter what order the condenser, coil, and insulater are mounted on the post?

Insulator first, then the two wires. Order of wires doesn't matter.
