Gas carb for Mc101

I've been running dual Mc101s with alky. Too much hassle. I'm going to switch to single engine and gas. Trying to decide what carb to use. Ideas?
A knowledgeable friend suggested considering a Tillotson HL-334AB, same carb as used on a Parilla Leopard. Anybody have any experience with this carb on a Mc101?

A friend of mine ran his with 2 gas HR carbs because he didn't want the alky hassle either. Ran fine. The HL 334 is smaller but unless you go to a long track will probably never even notice it.

An HR181 will give you great power and a lot less hassle than a mac carb.
There is a article on adopting an HR carb to a mac manifold on Rob's site here.

Philrock, I've had good service out of the Mikuni 34 mm and its and easy swap, very little mods involved and I beleive they are easier to come by than the HR 181's. Tom

Remember that McMaster Carr has part number 2868T42 bronze bushings at $.29 each. They're 1/4" I.D. X 5/16" O.D. X 1/4" long. They're perfect spacers for putting the 5/16" stud-hole Mikuni onto the 1/4" Mac manifold studs. I keep a bunch of them on hand for just that purpose. McMaster also has #8-32 X 1/8" socket head cap screws (part No. 91251A179) that are the right length to fill the corner holes in the Mac reed. The corner pulse holes on the reeds I have were already perfect size for tapping #8-32. Don't forget to epoxy the screws in, and clean around the heads before the epoxy hardens, as the carb flange comes quite close to the screw heads. LAD Specialties has plenty of the large flange gaskets. The Mikuni runs great and is super easy to tune. TJ

Guys - thanks very much for your help. The path seems clear: HR-181 or Mikuni 34 mm.
I've posted a Wanted message accordingly.
