Simple throttle hook up question, Rupp A-bone

Post by Chris Larkin » Sun Jul 18, 2010 4:31 pm

anyone have a picture of how the throttle pedal rod attaches to the throttle cable on rupp karts? is is a simple slotted box type deal with a 1/4 hole in one side for the rod and a slot for the cable in the opposite side?

I guess I'm asking is how were they hooked up from the factory, or for tips on how other people attach them.

Thanks
Chris

That is pretty much it with a clamp piece, compression spring, washer and cotter pin thrown in. I have a photo but can't find it. I will take another pix tomorrow and put it up here on the site. Rob Voska sent me the photo, maybe if he reads this he can attach it to this note. If not, I'll do it tomorrow.

OK, I'll try again, last time it didn't take.
Here is a photo that Rob sent me and I fabricated my hook-up from this pix.
Have fun,
Scott

Chris
I have my original owners manual (a little old and tattered) but has an exploded view/parts list of complete a-bone. I am new to the site and have yet figured out how to scan and attach a copy, but if you are still in need I`m sure Louie Figone would help me with it next week. Tom

...here is a parts list from Robron for the A-Bone

personally, for my Chaparral, I made blocks out of aluminum ... you drill some holes, cut some slots with a hacksaw ... and you can make the parts you need pretty easily. I never liked those screw down clamps that hold the throttle cable, they always slip. Instead of a clamp, I made a block with a deep large hole and a small hole exiting at the end, the throttle cable sleeve bottoms in the large hole and the cable passes thru the small hole. The large hole is deep enough so that the cable sleeve can never come out and hang up. That block bolts up to the frame where the clamp normally would.
