Ron, A guy I know who knows Xterminators pretty well told me the holes below the seat back are for kill switches. I wonder if they were standard equipment or an accessory item? The photo I have of Rathmann's Xterminator shows push/pull switches in place. Tom

Tom,
some had them (grounded with rivet) most did not (rivet never had ground under it) so I guess the answer is if they felt like it they put them in (-: Never have seen push pull type.

Ron, I looked at some pictures of a brand new from the factory dual Mc-10 Xterminator, it has conventional toggle kill switches mounted horizontally in the holes below the seat back with the switch wires plugged into the kill wire leads on the Mc-10s. I've seen them without the holes also. The Xterminator with the push/pull switch in this photo (click on the link) looks like one of the prototypes without Hands swing mounts. I assume Pete raced it at Nassau because of the Nassau number panel and the floor tank. Tom

Have not seen one w/o holes but like I said the ground wire to the switches is hard riveted in to the frame some have it there some do not and there was nothing under the rivet. single engine karts that I have gotten, one swing mount, have only one kill switch also. All the karts I have seen with original engines have had switches. If you have any more pics like that please send as I am trying to put together enough info to make the original motor mounts they used prior to the swing mounts. Ron

I remember the first time Charlie Craibe and I went into Rathmann's Miami showroom in 1960. Ron's workshop is beginning to look just like that!

I looked at the results from Nassau, it lists Bobby Allen driving kart #4 and Pete Berlt #41. They finished 1st and 2nd.
Ron, The triple Xterminator I sent you the picture of had Garelli MG8 engines, not Partners like I thought. It was an Italian entry. Tom
