2010 Vintage Karting Event At Batavia NY
Hi,
A few of us guys/gals here in NY (and Ohio) would like to have a vintage karting event at the Batavia track in upstate NY. Next season the track will be available for a couple weekends because the local modern club will be traveling next year. It is a great track with different elevations, long straights and challenging curves and good facilities. Some vintage events were held here a few years ago.
Before we can pick a weekend, the kart club will need to meet in Jan/Feb to determine the schedule for the year so a date for a vintage event won't be available until sometime in the 1st qtr. of 2010 and the format is yet to be determined but we feel as a group that it should include all vintage type karts.
Before beginning to promote and event, we wanted to get a "read" on the level of interest for such an event in Batavia. It would be centrally located between Ohio, Pensylvania and New england and would give the vintage guys in the northeast a chance to attend an event without traveling 12-16hours.
If you think this is something you would be willing to attend we would appreciate your input. You can either answer this post or send me a private message and I will pass the info along to the others who would be working on the event here in NY.
Please let us know what you think about this.
Thanks much,
Scott Kneisel

Re: 2010 Vintage Karting Event At Batavia NY
There are a number of us who live around Akron, Ohio who would love to attend.
But, June is Mid Ohio and New Castle...
I haven't been to Batavia for years.
Keep us posted of your schedule.

Thanks Rick,
We will try our best not to schedule it on a weekend where any other regional vintage events are taking place. A lot will depend on the Batavia Kart Club schedule though and we will have to take a weekend when the track is free. We will do our best. You are right though, a lot is going on in June.
Thanks for the reply,
Scott

Yup, the very same Batavia from 30 years ago with a big downhill extension on one end and 2 monza banked turns added on the other end. It is a really fun track to drive. I will try to get a link of a video on here of a couple of us chasing each other around the track on a play day last month.
We have not decided any rules yet but we will want to include as may vintage type karts as we can.
