I was tthinking about building a kart in the 60's style rear engine configuration.would this be legal to run at TBO.I built all my karts when i run in wka in the 80's so just seems the way to go in this vintage thing.I'm having a ball working on the macs again but i have no way of knowing if they run good or not.Been having alot of trouble finding a chassis down here in the old south so building seems the next step.Any input from you guys would be apppreciated.

if you need a kart i have several good frames i'd sell you at a fair price.
anything from an r1 Pricey to older bugs.
there's plenty available on esteal or craigslist you just have to be patient.
i'm pretty sure that at tbo you have to build a more or less exact copy to be allowed but Rob will let you know exactly.
Or you can check the flyer as it outlines the basic rules.

Danny, Dave's right. It has to be a pretty close reproduction of the original to run at TBO. Look at the REAR home page at my Swoopster and the rear view of Charlie Craibe's Swoopster. We spent many hours documenting the original kart that Ron Cubel had, plus nearly 2 years pf design and fabrication. Next time I'd pick a simpler original! Good luck! Ted

It's the same deal for the VKA also, reproduction karts are OK, you can find more details here...
Some of the old vintage designs are not overly complex, but some are VERY elaborate and difficult to reproduce.

Danny, I guess I didn't state things clearly. You CAN build a reproduction of a production vintage kart yourself. Just make sure that it's very close to the origina in dimensions and appearance. You can also run a homemade kart of your own design that was actually built in the '57 - '72 range. Check out the REAR '09 videos and photos. Jack Canady's beautiful orange twin cylinder kart is a home built, but it was built in the proper time frame. TJ
