Oreville and Blitz F-1000

Post by Jeff Troy » Mon Jun 18, 2007 8:32 pm

Hi, Guys,

Devin and I had our first outing of the season for Father's Day at Oreville.

They're running up to four vintage classes every Sunday, right on the bill with all the modern classes. This is one track where modern and vintage seem to mix fine, with no problems, jealousy or bad temperament; we all get along great, and enjoy watching each other run.

Devin ran her 1960 Dart Super K/AH-58 in exhibition class, and I ran my 1960 Go Kart 800 (yes, we got the original Azusa Posi-Stop brake to work well) with a single MC-6 in two classes -- exhibition and 100cc.

I thought that some of you would enjoy seeing Red Rose Racing's latest addition. It's a 1962 Blitz F-1000 and will carry an MC-91 with a head change to make it look like an MC-7. Not trying to fool anyone, but a 7 just can't keep up with the hot 91's I run against at Oreville and everywhere else, and I just want the kart to be competitive and wear what will look to most people like the engine it would have worn in 1962. Until recently, the only Blitz I ever saw up close was when I raced at Cuddebackville back in '62, and that Blitz had a new MC-7 pushing it. Very cool machine, and the kid driving it cleaned everyone else out good and proper.

Anyway, here's a few shots of our new Blitz. It's ready to be assembled except for sanding and painting the Go Power wheels.

I can't make Quincy this year. Devin starts her five-week stint at the Pennsylvania Governor's School of Excellence for the Arts this weekend, as one of only a handful of of Pennsylvania violinists chosen to attend this state-sponsored program. Wishing everyone a great time, and all the best to Gus and Terry.

Devin and I hope to see all of you at Fremont.

Warmest regards...

Say, what's the method for viewing the attachments? I run my cursor over them and nothing highlights. Thanks, TJ

Hi, Ted,

I don't know. As far as I know, they should just appear in the messages without having to do anything.

Maybe Jeff Campbell can give you a definitive answer and provide a few suggestions.

Warmest regards...

The images should just appear in the forum posting. The images that Jeff Troy uploaded were small images (they do look like thumbnails that could be clicked on to blow them up, but they are not clickable blowup deals). I do have the option of setting up images so that when users upload them, thumbnails appear instead of the full images, but I thought that would create more complexity for users to figure all that out.

I attached 2 photos for examples, the first one is a very large photo (those over 640x640 pixels will automatically display as a link), and a decent size photo that will display at the bottom of this message.

Ahhh SOOO! I may do CAD work all day, but I know zilch about computers! Thanks, Jeff and Jeff. I saved that nice pic of you on the kart. Jeff (1), I like the Blitz! TJ

Hi Jeff,
I just started the restoration of an F-1000 Blitz I gave to my friend. It's pretty rough but restorable. Would you mind sending a few photos of your Blitz project to me at ducatitriumph@comcast.net . I'd really appreciate it. I want to show
my friend how the project will look in various stages. I just got him hooked at the VKR in Davis with some laps in my Chaparral dual.
Thanks,
Mark Havery

Hi, Mark,

I just compiled a very CD full of images of my Blitz, from day of purchase through teardown, fabrication and preparation, all the way up to its present state -- ready for assembly.

Please send your mailing address to jefftroy@aol.com and I'll send the whole CD. That's much easier than sending a high number of images.
