... here is the first of several super cool The Big One 2009 videos ..

... it was great weather and must have been another record turnout, or the place just won't hold anymore people and karts.

The Fantastic Four at the end of the video are the "people's choice" best vintage karts at the event, winners for 2009 were:
Mike Anderson, Indiana, 61 Rathman Xterminator, Pair Mc 20's
Scott Kniesel, New York, 61 McCulloch, Mc 6
Ted Johnson, New Mexico, 62 LMP Swoopster, Mc 20
Dick Teal. Wisconsin, 68 Margay New Breed, W.B. 820

Mike Anderson's Xterminator was in amazing condition, set up with a pair of direct drive MC20s.

Scott Kniesel had a perfectly restored McCulloch kart and a bunch of high caliber restored motors (MC5, MC6, MC9, MC20...), and he ran that kart and the MC6 and MC9 motors all weekend, it wasn't just for show.

Ted Johnson's LMP Swoopster reproduction kart was a sight to see, along with all the construction photos and CAD images he generated to build it. This was a truely unique kart design, worthy of reproducing.

Dick Teal again treated us to another perfect restoration, this time a Margay New Breed (not a Fox!), and he did fire it up and run it on the track!

....and my special mention .... Jack Canaday's twin cylinder Disston - PowerProducts hybrid engine, a twin cylinder Diston saw crankcase with two PowerProducts cylinders on it. This engine wasn't just for show, it ran even better than it looked, the sound coming out of those open pipes had a tone that only comes from a true twin cylinder engine, it was wonderful! Jack and "Torque" (Al Klusman) had a great collection of vintage engines there, and were a must stop chat location on the way to the FREE drink coolers!

...and some more videos from other people

Joel Wauthier in a Triple WB820 SAE kart, I thought Joel did a great job driving that beast, he demonstrated some good "power steering" driving. There are several nice slow motion shots of Joel in the video I posted at the start of this thread.
