How does one go about installing a mechanical fuel pump and how does it work? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Vic.

Like an auto pump. It runs off a cam on the axle. Axle must turn to supply engine fuel.

Vic,
Hovey Machine Products manufactured a kit. Hovey has been gone for several years now, but I have seen these kits at swap meets. I picked up one for my Hovey products display at a swap meet last year. The kit came with a polished bracket that attached to the bearing hangers, a cam with a 1" bore, and a mechanical fuel pump. We used to use this kit back in the day, where multiple carbs needed a supply from a tank that was far away. We used to put a fuel valve on the output side of the pump, pumped fuel to a fuel block, and on to the engine. Since we did not run a pressure regulator, the primitave valve was used to control the output.
