I would like to suggest, that if you are using an aluminum brake rod, to change it back to steel. Whether you are using a hydraulic system, Bendex brake or manual disk brake system, the rods have a tendency to brake at the ends of the threads or at a very sharp bend.
Using aluminum rods is very dangerous and it is only a matter of time before they will brake.
I hope, that in the future, our tech people will not allow any kart that has these rods on the track. It is a danger to not only the driver but anyone who is on the track with them.

Good call, Rick! I went to 1/4 Dia. 304 stainless rod from McMaster Carr. It polishes like chrome very easily. Just make sure you get the 304, as some other alloys don't thread well. TJ

Jeff Campbell kindly pointed out to me that he'd had trouble threading 304 SST rod with a die. 303 is a better SST for machining, especially things like the 1/4-28 threads for control rods. Don't use 304 for threading unless you lathe turn the threads. Sorry if I mislead anyone. Ted
