McBob's new Mac big gun Twin 101B's
As promised fellas here she is my new hotsaw running twin Mac 101B's.
I still have a little left to do but the basic work is done and these's quite a bit more in the engine dept we ca still do as i have two sets of Gem V-12 intake manifolds and with either single adaptors to suit Tillerton HR's or a pair of Tillerton 1" carby's for each engine on the same manifolds weight is around the 20kg's much the same as the twin 3120 that i plan to race against and beat.
Lightweight Aluminium head shrouds and on the outer flywheel cover i used the earlier Mac 100/101 housing as it of less width and lighter.
I'm still awaiting another SP125C clutch assy and it should be here next week.
I had the cluth drum machined from one piece of steel and it couples the two engines together bolting onto engine2's flywheel as the clutch is on Engine1.
Engine1's fuel tank will have the auto oiler and only carry the CBS oil.
Engine2's fuel tank will carry the fuel for both engines.
Both engines i have added electronic ignition units to ( Ryobi ).
I have throttle linkages to add and painting to do then i'll start her and get the engines sorted.
The inboard engine will start the outboard engine so i need to fit a couple of decompressors.
Mc Bob.
I can smell burnt Huskie twin meat in the air.

Pretty inovative but I havta ask; is there a balance problem as the grip is only on the rh engine? Tom

If you look at the front handle there's a rubber grip which just about sits in the centreline of the two engines thats the saw units balance point and the rear handle on the inboard engine steers her real nice after all i dont need two rear handles as i'm an arm short !Tom Luttenbacher wrote:Pretty inovative but I havta ask; is there a balance problem as the grip is only on the rh engine? Big units like this take a bit of controlling so balance is very important i feel this beast of a sheila will be fine as i can or will be able to use my left leg above the knee to assist in pivoting the saw so a fella has to be sure there's no chance of getting an electrical shock off the plug or i'll be talking with a very sqeeky voice.
Starting it shouldn't be too hard as i'm fitting decompressors on both engines.

Hey Bob, just wondering, what pitch chain do you use for a race saw? I'd imagine a 1/2" would be faster than a 3/8". Skip tooth, carbide, round tooth, weirdo chain?
