Caretta question

Hi All

I have a few questions in regards to the Caretta I am restoring. The first one what was the first year that Caretta used the light blue color paint? Second as its been a long time since I ran my Caretta (19 at the time now 68) I don't remember the gear ratio that I ran. I will be running a modified stroked Mac 6 capable of around 12 to 13 thousand rpm. Looks like I will be using a 11 inch tire on the back also. So what are you guys that are running single engine Carettas running for sprocket ratios? The last question is what was the last year that Caretta used the weld on motor mount?

The cart is coming along nicely. I have removed the ugly 6 inch Bendix brake that was installed on it. Fortunately I found no damage to the axle frame tube were the original was removed. Unfortunately the front axle is in the process of being replaced as the original had been badly damaged on the right side and after stripping the paint found horrible repairs. Other than the front axle having to be replaced the rest of the frame is near perfect condition with no re-welds or further damage or cracks only a few extra holes that have been blugged. I have found a very nice pair of brake shoes from a motor cycle shop that are 25 MM wide and 200 MM in diameter. Or 1 inch wide and 4 inches in diameter as the original was. I have material on hand to fab a new back plate and a brake drum with heat sink. All the chrome parts are out for stripping. after I get them back they will be repaired if necessary and then polished for re-chroming. The original upholstery is out being replicated and is do back in a few weeks. I have acquired a Mac 6 and I am only waiting for a .020 over piston to arrive from Perry in Canada to complete the engine.

Also would the fellow that sent me pictures of his rear original brake please email me again as some how I have lost his email address and I have another question I need answered.

Thanks for all the help I have gotten so far and you guys that make it to the Oregon vintage race in Medford this year will get a chance to see the cart as it was raced in 1961. All I will tell you it was not yellow."-)))
