showed up agn fri may 8th 10am fla time..seller mi203699..kart does appear to be a chapparel with possible (2) mc90's..no 3rd axle bearing. 1200, so i emailed asking for the model of engines from id plate and shipping arangements to fla. return email was immediate, no comment on engine id but 1200 buy it now, give me your add and we'll use some type of ebay 'secure' system that protects both of us... seller had oth item listed like in blocks ie 10 items, time left 13h29min,,10 more items time left 13hours 30min. now citrusstate is a beautiful lady and i wouldn't do anything to hurt her but upon receit of seller's email, auction ended and c-state was the buyer(and no i didn' hit any wrong keys) so we REALLY had a nice day at the beach. 1hour in the sun and 2hours at the tiki bar discussing my new sleeping arrangements.....i'm not saying it was a scam and even reviewing the seller's feedback and some of his buyers, it looked ok but.....dave--thanks for posting this back then cause i immediately pulled this thread up...maybe we could say this forum is 'the holy grail' butch and patty

simple.
i posted this ebay ad to warn everyone that it's a constant FAKE EBAY AUCTION that appears time to time.
this guy HACKS into ebay to post fake ads to STEAL YOUR MONEY.
i'm always checking ebay so i notice these things more than most.
it's always almost over and the guy always has a bunch of other high end auction stuff posted all with the same end times something that is very rare with ebayers..
the idea is to get you to send money off ebay and then your money is gone and the kart never shows up.
EBAY knows this happens.
they could build a simple crawler to check there site as these posts rarely vary but they chose not to.
Sooooo, if you see this ad on ebay don't bother it's a SCAM

I guess the "seller" thinks we be all a bunch o' hayseed go kart fellers, eh? Shucks, and I was all set to snap up this super-duper good deal!

in the past, patty and i had our bank accts listed thru pay pal so when we purchased an item, it came out of our bank. bank accts are no longer listed. in the recent 12months, we have sold some items hence we have a small balance in the paypal acct. when we went to barnesville ga in march, patty easily transferred monies from paypal to our bank acct....now, we had emailed the seller a 2nd time stating we had to make arrangements to transfer the 1200, seller emailed back stating he would give us a 'different' paypal acct that would protect us both as this item was not available for pickup. we emailed a 3rd time, ready to pay and asked for the 'different' paypal acct, seller did not respond. as stated earlier, seller had ended the auction and listed us(citrusstate) as the buyer. patty and i had spoke to a computer wiz this past week and he stated many ways on how this seller could complete the sting, but the 2 easiest was 1-different paypal acct, 2-the person hacked into the sellers acct and if we had paid, person would immed transfer monies out sellers(name) paypal acct like patty did for b-ville...because of dave's prev posting and common sense, we knew we weren't going to buy this item.....as stated in another posting, the people involved in vintage karts are really good people. they would help work on your kart, loan parts, suggest ideas etc etc before they even knew your name....you just have to be careful of the scams...i'm done, butch and patty

for what it's worth, here are some simple tips to avoid getting scammed on ebay when dealing with sellers unknown to you:

- only buy from sellers that Paypal offers protection on (you will get your money back if there is a problem)
- pay with Paypal (it will not matter if the money comes from your paypal account or bank account, Paypal protection still applies)
- only deal with sellers with near 100% positive feedback (when sellers have a few recent bad feedbacks, it's usually the tip of an iceberg, beware!)

The scammers usually have next to no selling record on ebay, no feedback and Paypal will not be offering protection on these scammers.

Paypal protection has improved recently. I had a recent experience with some UGG boots I bought as a gift, they were very good counterfeits. Within a few weeks, paypal gave me back all my money, and I had a nice pair of free boots!

he scams the money the same as he hacks into ebay.
i don't know alot about the mechanics but basically the hacker makes a fake page that's imbeded into ebay's system.
when you check out the auction you are actually redirected to a different site that looks exactly like ebay.

any info you give on the alternative site is recorded.
the hacker needs you to give him information so he can complete his theft.
they'll try getting your name and address and personal info.
or
while you think you're in ebay they'll send you a site link to pay with paypal.
only you'll go to a site that looks exactly like paypal but isn't.
when you sign in they capture your password and then yer scr#wed.
to be safe i always log directly into paypal and never use links

alot of times they encourage you to send western union money as that isn't recoverable.
there are many other ways to clip you i haven't mentioned.
the best way to protect yourself is dis-trust anyone with stupidly cheap perfect deals.

there are people who cruise ebay every day looking for deals so they never last very long.
so if you look on ebay enough you'll see that any buy it now stupid low deals last about three hours before they are snapped up.
that means that any auction with less than a day left with an awesome deal smells to high heaven.

but on this particular fake auction i've seen it at least three times.
i've advised ebay about it twicwe and they pull the auction.
soooo, if you see a dual engined complete Rupp that's way cheap with almost no time left just ignore the ad .
i hope this helps dave 8-)

Here... I fixed that for you.

Thank you for the explanations. Reminded me why I don't care for ebay much & why I refuse to have a paypal account.
