Re: kart i.d. please
Dave, your points are well taken. Dan's post said "dead axle" so that's why I was thinking fun kart. Did Blitz ever make a live tubed axle?? Is it possible that your kart is a pre-63 Blitz in the front, spliced with another kart in the rear?? I've seen that sort of stuff before. Anyway, enjoy!

Re: kart i.d. please
Doug,
when i first posted it did look to be a fixed axle.
tubed axles are fairly rare.
i've had a few blended karts.
this one is all of one kart i believe.
in the 1960 gokart book they say blitz put out a thunder blitz with a live axle in a tube.
dual rear brakes ect. ect.
it looks alot like the pix you sent of the barracuda kart.
mine has a different seat back and rear set up.
the remaining piece under the hacked on steering wheel looks alot like the steering they offered.
what i suspect i have is a pre-thunderblitz or another model by blitz manufacturing.
they were a big name on the East Coast.
anyway it's a neat kart that'll go in the long line of projects.
that is unless someone really loves it and makes a reasonable offer before i get too attached.

Re: kart i.d. please
remember everything costs 50 bucks
mine got on the what ever i spent on the last kart / engine she got to spend that much on somthing,
she still cant understand why we need 30 plus engines
Alisha now has her own modern and vintage kart that helps alot when there into it
new trick on engines get them in the trailer go to dads then come back and when asked what motor that is
oh one i got from dads to work on, "he has attic full so is working at this time"
good thread here
