tube bender
Anybody out there who can or knows who can bend our (2) repro rear bumpers? They need to be 3/4" O.D. X .083 wall stainless steel tubing, probably 304. The upper tube needs two 90 degree end bends in as small a centerline radius as practical, then the ends need to be flattened to the center for drilling. The spacing between the legs is important, as they attach to the axle bearing hangers. The lower is similar, except the dimensions are a bit different, and the ends are not flattened. The spacing here on the legs is very critical, as they mount over two fixed "pegs" that are integral to the frame. The finish is also important, as they will be polished. I have CAD drawings for the fabricator. We need (2) upper bars and (2) lower bars. I can supply the tubing, or the fabricator can do so. Anybody out there with connections?
Thanks! Ted Johnson

Hey Ted, Steve O'Hara posted this over on the VKA site a while back.

I haven't used them but it sounds right up their alley.

Let's just say there have been some vintage kart "opportunities" that have taken priority over sleep in the last few days.

Still need help! I sent the PDF's to the Motive Systems, but they didn't answer. I've also sent them to a Michigan company, but they only bend, and don't do any end finishing. More ideas? Ted

Ted, give him time, he is very busy, Randy Coons is the owner and was a kart racer in the 70's and '80's, shop is next door to Race Kart Engineering, married to John Motley's daughter. He will get back to you.

Re: tube bender
check out Woolf Aircraft Inc. in Michigan. I've watched them bending complex prototype stainless hydraulic lines for A1 Abrams turbine powered tanks etc. They can bend 1R bends.
