I have two Mac 91B engines that have alum rods in them. Who made these and where they any good? The beams seem to look like a Carrilo rod used in car engines. Not sure I want to use them? Any info????

Hi,
Do you have any pictures of them? It's possible they are hyprode rods, but since they are in later engines it's possible they are some rods which I made in the mid 70's. Are you interested in selling or trading the rods and pistons for stock rods or parts. Let me know. Thanks Mike Anderson (317)729-2418 I will be on the road for the next 2 wks. you can just e-mail at fleagle14@embarqmail.com or call cell (317)512-3914

Can anyone confirm that this is a Hyprode rod? It has a steel insert in the big end. Any history on it??

It looks just like the Hyprode's I have and I've owned mine since the mid 60's. They also came in an angled cap version. I think it was supposed to reduce the stresses on the rod bolts. Mine have #12 fine thread fasteners rather than the #10's used with a stock Mc rod.
