vintage karters promote your sport

Post by Brian Thomas » Mon Feb 23, 2009 10:04 pm

Brian and I are going to do the Gopher State Timing Association (GSTA) Car Show again this year it is at the State Fair Grounds in St. Paul MN. . We will be bringing at least one kart, our 61 Simpex . Maybe more depending on how time, health, and money work out.
We would really like to put on a good display this year and could REALLY, REALLY use some help from fellow vintage karters. We wouldn't ask for much except for you to bring a kart up to display and maybe frog a little cash for some cheap gray home depot indoor/outdoor carpet to go under it. We have a section of it but its not enough to go under a whole series of karts. This show is held at a nice heated indoor secure location and has 24 hour security. And you are not required to be with your kart the whole weekend. Brian and I will be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Your welcome to join us. The base entry fee covers 4 particapaints. That means we spend at least 100.00 of our own money.
This is a high profile show (This show often draws Riddler compeition quality show cars )and it requires pictures sent in with the application to gain admittance to be in the show. Here's a link to the GSTA and another link to our photobucket that shows are display from last year.
We will cover the base display entry fee, If you want to compete for tropheys on a indivual basis then there would be a fee per kart that gets paid to the GSTA. If there are enough karts we could try to do a club display.

You must reply on or before March 2nd as this show is at the end of march. And we need to put our aplication in ASAP in order to reserve a dislpay space. So come on guys dust them off and wax them up, and lets put on a display. We do have a pretty good back drop, with some pretty cool pics see photobucket pics.
This type of deal, really helps to promote vintage karting. And if we want our sport to grow and thrive we as fellow vintage karters need to do things like this!!
How many of you started out with karts before you moved up the ladder in motorsports?

If you are not close enough to do this event then why not put a display on at a motorsports type event in your local area.
We took outstanding in class and 1st place in the special interest catagory last year.
So come on guys and gals lets step up to the plate and drag them dogs out, and show them to the world. And let people know we are here and growing.
Who knows maybe you'll get that guy walking up to you saying hey I have an old kart that my dad had, in the top of my gargage with two motors on it, and I don't know what it is. That could make your day. ( A new barn find).
