Jeff,

I have one of those hubs but it is fitted with the common older style aluminum arms/shoes with fiber linings. I have never seen arms/shoes like those in the pictures.
Hope someone else can provide more info.

Tom Spalding sold his clutch manufacturing business, tooling etc, to John Hartman. The first clutches Hartman sold were basically the Spalding Products Super-loc clutch design.

That clutch was the 1 st hartman version about 1966. We bought a Saetta distributorship from John in 66 and those were the 1 st clutches he sold with the motors. In 1967 At Adams John installed an oil clutch cover on my kart with that type clutch but the center was open possibly allowing oil on the track. The officials called them illegal so we had to remove it. That was one of the 1st oil clutches. John Hartman was a terrific engineer and a great man. I didnt know about the Tom Spaulding history thanks Tom.
