REAR position on powder coat.

Post by Darvin Jahnke » Sun Jan 04, 2009 10:33 pm

I know REAR strives to maintain authenticity of the old karts and to keep them period correct. I've heard fellows speak of powder coating their frames and other parts. Does this meet REAR guidelines as I don't believe the karts had this finish when new? Thanks

Don't care either way. Your WAYYYYYYYYYY overboard here and getting false info. I paint my frame because if it cracks I can weld it without the hassle of stripping off ALL the powdercoat.

Sorry. Ijust asked the question because I know there are guidelines and I didn't know if this fit in.

Hey, Darvin! Charlie Craibe and I had 3 karts at TBO Labor day, and they were all p'coated. I sure hope it's O.K., as Charlie and I don't want to have to give our "Biggie' awards back! Everything I have is powdercoated, as I don't have the patience to keep up with paint! The guidelines are generous, and leave latitude for such things as powder, reproduction parts and repro chassis. Even the color does not have to be original. Ted

Thanks Ted. That's the type of answer I was looking for.
