The Track in Batavia will NOT OPEN this year. The Batavia Kart Club will run a reduced schedule and would have loved to stage a vintage event. Unfortunatly this will not happen. Check the batavia web site for further information.

Batavia certainly has had its struggles over the years with several owners trying to give it a go, it just isn't easy to run a successful kart track operation, especially in upstate NY, where the economy has been in decline since the 80's.
The sprint track in Avon is still there (not far from Batavia), hopefully something can be worked out to get an event going there. Avon is a very nice track, it's another Go-Kart Factory, Irwindale CA styled track, just like Brodhead, the track that was in Lindsay CA, and many others .... was probably the most popular layout of tracks built during the 60's. It's a great layout for the earlier period karts.

Sorry to hear about Batavia, always loved racing there. Avon is a great track also. Liked racing there also in the IKF days. Count me in if it's a go.

Scott, you seem to be one of the ones in on trying to set this up. What about Cherry Valley, or Charlies kart track, as I remember it. It's not too far off I81 Just south of Syracuse. Just a thought. We'll be there even if we don't have a kart by then. Do have a friend with an origional "64" Grand Prix. Maybe We can talk him in to takeing it down off the wall and bringing that too. Hope something works out. Sounds like alot of fun. John

Things are progressing with the Avon promotors. I will have a status on Saturday, maybe a date if things go well.
Cherry Valley was my home track when I used to race IKF and lived in Syracuse. It is a nice track but even further to travel for the Ohio guys. Lets see how things work out with Avon.
I also do not think they are doing any vintage at "Charlies" but I could be wrong about that, I have not really checked into it.
I will status on this board this weekend.
