The Donna Reed Show was a typical early sixties sitcom. Shelly Fabares was the daughter (WOW!), Paul Peterson was the brother. He was quite interested in karts. I remember several stars of the day were karters, or interested in karts. Tim Considine from My Three Sons was a very good dual driver. Jay North from Dennis The Menace was shown in karts. Steve McQueen was also known to hang around karts. We went to an event in Vegas in I believe 1964. There were more stars there than stars in the sky. Vicki Duggan (The Body), Susan Hart (Double WOW!)from all the beach party movies and tons more.
John, I remember both the KW Mac kart test with the Hands wheels, and the McCulloch commercials on Donna Reed. Fun days!

No, Steve, as much as I like Scott Kneisel, it's just way too far from southern Arizona to New York! Arizona has set up its rental van rules to keep the vehicles close to the state. As soon as you get east of New Mexico, the horrendous mileage charges kick in. I'm hoping to get a reman engine in my Jeep next year, then I can haul the two karts in a 4 X 6 trailer. I'm not going to make any events at all this year outside of the Bakersfield event we already did. I won't be doing any more racing. My health won't allow it. I guess I had my day back in the sixties!
Oh, yeah! I was wrong referring to Vicki Duggan as "The Body", it was "The Back" due to the dresses and bathing suits she wore that were so low cut in the back! TJ

FYI - I did try to locate the Donna Reed Show episode "Hilldale 500", it aired in the 4th season as episode 28. Seasons 1-3 have made it to DVD, but unfortunately season 4 and beyond has not ... I could easily find online video from seasons 1-3 (Hulu.com), but nothing for season 4.

I saw the episodes of Donna Reed where Pop and Son built a kart, seems like the story line was that Pop couldn't afford to buy new so they picked up a kit kart, tho when it was all done and race day came about it appeared to be Mc kart.. Memory fails me as to what series Mc motor it was tho. TL
