Can anyone tell me if the '63 Rupp spindles (the ones that use unequal length tie rods) are different in measurement to the later ones? What I would like to know is if the front arm, where the tie rod connects is longer and also what the distance from the upright the holes are. Rob Stanton is able to make me a new pair but does not have the measurements for the earlier ones. I don't have any spindles to measure as I only have the bare frame ('63 Grand Prix #475).
Thanks
Phil

Re: Rupp Spindles
Phil, on the early one the second hole is .900" farther out hole center to hole center. The inner hole location is the same on both styles. On the early ones both sides have the two bolt holes although only one side uses both of them. Most likely they didn't want to make another die to punch a steering arm with just the one outer hole. Since the steering arms are positioned at a compound angle relative to the spindle bush there might be a slight difference between the short and the long steering arm angles which is critical to prevent the tie rod swivel joint from binding at full turn.

Hi Phil,
I had to make one of those from scratch...
They are slightly different is shape to the single hole version.

Re: Rupp Spindles
Phil, I was going to make up a batch of those spindles but I never got around to finishing them. I still have one finished pair I came across while digging around for something else today. They have aircraft bolts and are cad 1 plated and post baked.
