Looking for Faller kart info

Post by Michael Burke » Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:47 pm

I recently purchased a Faller needing a lot of TLC. Info on Faller karts seems to be as rare as the karts. Mark Weaverling has the only known restored example. They have an interesting frame. The 1.25 diameter main rails were cut and notched to make the bends. The front axles were from Caretta. If anyone has photos or knows of any magazine articles about Faller's, I'd appreciate a PM or email.

Thanks for the help

Michael

I did a quick Google search, and found only one mention of a Faller Kart. It was in a Rod & Custom magazine from the 60's. I did not spend too much time searching. They did have one picture, not much detail.

I did another search for Gil Faller, found that there is a Faller Kart in the Vintage Karts .com registry. Its really hot today in NE Ohio, so any excuse to get inside next to a cool computer.

That is Mark Weaverling's Faller. For now it's the only one being run at vintage events. He used to have 5 inch Go Powers on the front before he added the front brakes.

Actually, that's Tom Medley's Faller, usually drivdn by Randy Holt or Gary Medley. Its my understanding only 3 Faller Sprint karts were made, Tom has one, Mark has another, location of third unknown.

I was looking at my photos last night and I realized that Mark's Faller was different than Tom's. I originally thought the front brake equipped Faller was Mark's with a brake conversion until I looked at the photos more closely. Thanks for clarifying things. I've seen Randy in it, so I thought it might be his kart. I have the 3rd known Faller, so I guess I need to get it done so there can be a family reunion at Adams. :-) This frame has extra tubes on the bottom rear. I don't know if they are original. Everything is gas welded on this frame and the welds on the additions are close in appearance to the rest of the frame. There are some obvious additions and repairs on it too.

I recall Bob Faller telling me he still has one stored under his porch and Jim Whitehead told me he gas welded them.
