I don't even know how to start this but here goes, so if I ramble.......
I'm sure many of you are hearing about Dan Lotz. Dan's has been diagnosed with lung cancer so please add him to your prayers. He's in the hospital in Findlay Ohio. Please send him cards of encouragment to:
Dan Lotz
1761 Wonderlick Rd.
Lima, Ohio 45805
Dan's been around karting and racing all his life. His dad raced when he was to little to race. He's owned many sprint car teams over the years with many well known drivers. He raced around Ohio and Indiana at Avon & Batavia NY in the WKA events of the 70's. He ran B Stock.
Dan started attending The Big One from the early days of the event and has been a great supporter of vintage karting and just loved racing and attending as many event as possible no matter who, what or where. He is responsible for building a bunch of SAE karts and building a lot of engines for many people running. He has more fun wrenching and watching than most people do driving. He spends countless hours in the shop. He has fantastic fabrication talents and built a few beautiful repop's of Margay New Breeds.
Living about 90 miles apart we were able to share many fun days at the track. Over the years Dan has become a great personal friend and we would talk on the phone quite often trying to help solve each others problem of the moment, swap part, bench race or just plain tell lies. Last year I even drug him to an event for a wonderful day and we were determined to go back again this year. Please drop him a note of encouragement as I'm sure in the days ahead he will be needing it.
Please help out

Re: Please help out
Rob,
I didn't know Dan in the old days but got to know him in the last few years that I've been active in Vintage Karts. He's a great guy and a source of information for me and we need him active again. We talked at length at Barnesville this year and I enjoyed the time spent with him. He was also one of the many people that appreciated the effort that went into making reproduction parts.
I will send him a get well card as soon as I return home from Texas next week.
Thanks for letting us know about his situation.

Re: Please help out
Ouch,
Sorry to hear about Dan's condition. Being from Findlay Dan and I go way back to the days of running around the old ladies track at Beaverdam. I will definately get a card in the mail to him. Hopefully I can get back home to stop and see him. With any luck maybe I will get to see him at the Big One. Has anyone spoken to him on the phone? I hate to call his place without having the right info.
