I think the key is the small version and the fly wheel is the same. The rings are the thin ones.

The MC2 used a lot of the same parts as the MC7, same piston (thin ringed), crank (48586), flywheel(48785A) .... The crank uses the large woodruff key (mac p/n100199) on both ends. The rod used in the MC2 (p/n48543) is different than other mac motors near that vintage, and of course it came with a split bushing instead of needles for the lower con-rod to crank bearing.

Hey, does anyone know ... what kind of rigid hone is used for these fixed head type blocks? If someone wanted to have the right hone for fitting pistons on a fixed head mac motor ... what would they buy? I know the block could be sent out for this work, but I like to play with this stuff myself, its half the fun.

try Sunnen blind hole hone, same kind needed for old West Bends, Mc-70s etc.

Is there anybody around boring the fixed head blocks? I've got about ten of them I need done and no one seems interested in doing them for cash...

Thanks for the info. Looks like I have the correct crank and flywheel but not sure about the rod. If you have any pics of the correct Mac 2 rod I would appreciate seeing some.

Steve, I remember several karters making bronze full floating bushings for Macs, Bends and PP's back in the day. Lots of experimentation, but good results in the end. There was a good article in one of the magazines, but I can't remember which mag. Best of luck! Ted
