need degree of layback for front axle

Post by david a luciani » Wed Aug 05, 2009 9:00 pm

Hi guys,

i'm replacing front axles and have made my level table and jigs to hold the frames straight.
i've bought both the axles and am ready to slice and dice.
i know that the bugs are 15 degrees as i checked the existing axle on the good side.
all the rupps i have are damaged in one way or another and i can't trust measuring them.
for now i need the degree that the axles layback on a older rupp kart.
if the rupps are all the same let me know that too.
thanx ahead
Dave 8-)

p.s.
when i get a minute i'll post the dave easy jigs for front axle replacements somewhere or another. :o
BTW Jeff, weren't you gonna start a project area on one of the forums?
if so i also have pix from the the (5) GK800'S build so far, theMC10 build from saw motors the BUG and the RUPP projects . let me know where to send pix
D

Hi Dave. Just curious: did you ask Robert Stanton (Robron)? I've never asked him a question quite as specific as yours, but he has always been very helpful when I've called. I'll bet that you have his number already, but just in case: 1-800-624-7383. Take care, Doug.

I hate that when it happens....

Dave-
I just looked up the Dart Super K Review from the 1960 Karting World. Here are the specs it gives for the Kart:
Caster: 6 degrees
Camber: 0 degrees
Toe In: 1/16"
King Pin Inclination: 9 degrees
