Beating the bushes
This weekend the wife and I brought 2 of our karts to the Gopher State Timing Association Rod and Custom show . One of the people that helps us with some of our fabrication work suggested that we enter our karts in the show .
We did well , The Margay won outstanding in class and the Simplex won 1st in class .
We mainly wanted to get the word out about vintage karting and to beat the bushes for karts and parts . We did get some leads so our efforts paid off .
We even passed out some TBO flyers .
Dottie and I met the Rocket man and were invited to come over and check out his shop.
He is looking for and old Bug kart to put a Turboniquics (sp) on .

Nice display Brian. What else are you going to do when you still have a foot of snow on the ground?

Re: Beating the bushes
It was a fun show There were 109 cars there competing , they had Gassers and fuelers there also . Once a day they would put them outside between the buildings and have a cackle fest type of deal. AH the smell of nitro !

Hi Brian, You both did a great job with your display! Sandy and I are planning on doing the same at some of our local automotive events, to also help spread the word about vintage karting ,and of course the greatest event of all... TBO!

Re: Beating the bushes
I am into drag racing in a big way, when I was young and dumb , I stop light raced alot down by the Sun drive in on Central ave in Minneapolis . I still have my 70 Monte that is a factory big block 4spd car . I only lost twice , they were both way out of my leage . I also pit crewed for a bracket 1 car back in the 80's . It was a retired Pinto funny car with a 400 small block Chevy in it .
Thanks for all the compliments.
The wife and I really like the vintage kart scene and want to help all we can , this is one way to do it .

Re: Beating the bushes
I would give my eye teeth to make 3 passes in a dragster . 1 just to come out of the hole , 2 a half track pass and 3 a full pull.!!!!
Makes the hair on arms stand just to think about it .

In the late 60's it was "K" & "L" streets in Sacramento. I had a totally ugly, all gold (no bumble Bee strip) 68' 340 Dart with 4.10's. It was a sleeper for sure but we ran around with 90 psi. in the fronts, torsion bars cranked all the way up and a new set of "Polyglass" rears about once a month.

George!
I didn't know that at one time you were a "Sacamenna" boy! By the time I came up, K street was cemented in and made a pedestrian mall, so the loop was L and J streets and a little later, Broadway. My first car was a '69 Olds 442 with a 455. Pretty much my entire paycheck went for gas and insurance!
