Help with ID'ing Kart
I'm new to this site and would like to call on all the knowledgeable members for some assistance in identifying a kart I just finished. I've searched many sites is hopes of finding a frame like this one.I've come to find there were hundereds of short lived mfgs,,but still nothing seems to match this one.
I recently refinished the kart and updated the wheels, spindles and powerplant. I know,,I don't have 2 stroker on there YET,,but I have a long winter ahead : ) The frame has a i.d./serial # 0039 stamped in the left side nerf/crash bar. It had simplex 6 bolt split rims running 12" rear slicks & 11" fronts. The front spindles are 5/8" and the rear axle was 1" with the step down 3/4",,so the raer rims matched this config. It had a mangled front bumper not shown it pic. I've saved all the original parts for future restoration.
Anything you can shed on this would be most helpful as I do want to return it to it's glory days! Thanks

Re: Help with ID'ing Kart
It's a very common early Bug rental kart with the wrong wheels, tires and engine. It would probably have had a Clinton cast iron or Kohler cast irpn 4 cycle and Hands wheels. We sold quite a few of these to the Central Florida rental tracks in 1960. The nerfs and bumpers are correct as is. Mark D'Elia has a very nice one he's turned into a pretty vintage kart. Ted

Thanks Ted and Rob for the help. Now I'm off to google to find out as much as I can about Bug Engineering.
I am so glad I save every nut & bolt we took off this kart. Great site..

626 334-0334. Talk to Faye. She might just have some old literature on the early concession karts. It's possible that Mark D'Elia may have information as well. I didn't see his name in the members list here, but try also on the vintagepowersport.com/vka and vintagekarts.com sites to see if he's a member there. He's a real nice guy to talk with. Ted

Re: Help with ID'ing Kart
PLEASE remove those wheels and tires from the kart . It is not safe , it WILL roll over . Those tires have to much grip and you WILL get hurt .

Re: Help with ID'ing Kart
I've got the original rims out for soda blasting and will be running those along with original size slicks. But for now these will have to do. We're not off to the races or anything like that.
