Help identifying an old kart
Hi gang. I had a young man contact me after looking at a couple of my youtube videos of my Dart. He's got and old kart that he's trying to identify. The pedals appear to be cast aluminum and I think I've seen them on vintage karts. The steering parts also look to be better than a yard kart. I promised him I'd post a link to his video's and see if one of you could help him identify it. So here it is: http://www.youtube.com/user/kgonsejr1 I sincerely appreciate your help. It would be awesome if you could point him to a picture of a kart like his that is original so he could see his goal. This young man is sincere in his quest and I'm sure would be proud to carry the vintage torch. Best regards, Don.

Re: Help identifying an old kart
Hello Don,
I seriously don't think that is a vintage racing kart. Everything about it looks like a mangled Manco. The pedals are Manco, which are a close copy of 60s Fox pedals, the steering hoop is Manco-ish. It would help if he removd the hideous fairing over the steering shaft. The tubes at the driver's hips where they go from low to high over the rear axle are definitely Manco.
The whole kart, yellow/black color scheme, looks like a crash dummy test vehicle. The front axle is so badly bent back on both sides, one side worse than the other. The add-on gussets did nothing to help keep the axle straight. Manco karts are known for their thin wall weak mild steel tubing. That is a fun yard kart. Nothing more. Tell the young guy to not waste his money, to sell it and find a real vintage racing kart to work on.
Kind Regards, Joe
