Regaarding the earlier Red Devil messages; I have a late rear engine sprint version that ran at the
Seattle track (Thrasher's Corner) around 1970. Mine is rear engine but is original with Airheart brake,
some minor but fixable frame mods and a fairly complicated detail for the lower end of the steering
shaft. Haven't looked close enough to see what Hadley's goal was.....a little weird. Like some of
the rest of you I tried to track down down Don Hadley (still alive?) in Butte and did find a relative who
thought he was still in Montana but living further up North........beyond that, I had no luck. Met a
nice guy from s.w. washington who has a early version of the sprinter. Also for a general "fyi",
Jack Lehman of "Kart-0-rama" near Tacoma was a dealer for the Red Devils and has some knowledge
of them. There's a nice article on the "lost enduros" web site on the Red Devil enduro model with
a shot of Jack's butt in one of the photos ("just kidding Jack"...he has his kart-o-rama shirt on).
Everyone seems to agree that the enduros were good karts......no info on the sprint but mine seems
a little heavy for a sprinter unless it's for twins. The pan on mine is a chuck of sheet steal that weighs
a ton just by itself........the fiberglass box under the seat is an interesting detail but is prone to
cracking out. I trashed the steel pan and going with some light aluminum. I'll be on it this winter
and will either run twin 91s or 101s.
Happy to hear from anyone on these critters: jim at " jessuparchitect@msn.com "
