Mac-6?

Post by Dominic Salvato » Thu Oct 27, 2011 4:05 am

Trying to figure out what the block is. It has a mc-6 crank and piston but the rod cap is open and the third port has only two openings. It has a 4 bolt pattern instead of the standard 3 on the pto for mounting the chain guard. The numbers on the block have been ground off.

dominic,
need external pix of block.
will be able to asses from fins and such.
but four holes means 7 and up from all i've ever seen.

the mods don't mean anything.
was common to swap out the closed crank for slotted.
the finger ports would've been added regardless.

I have an Mc6 with a 4 hole pattern on pto side, the block is marked mc6 and has low deck, bore and stroke are correct. I said nothing about it because I had not seen another. My engine was new or like new when I got it, so it has not been modified. ron

Ron confirmed what i would've guessed.
looks like the correct block except for the extra bolt point.

could be a saw block too.

my take is it's built like a mc6 looks like an mc6 so it IS an mc6.
the mc6 crank only came in the mc6 and maybe one year of saw anyway.

i know purists would disagree but i'm always using saw parts to make exact replicas.
my clone motors are exactly the same in all ways but started they were born as saws .
