Just hope our old mate Ron likes the pic's as well, these Mac's were a factory option blessed by Uncle Bob himself and were released for the big timber of the Pacific North West.

Ingrediants needed a Super Pro 125c and the factory 101b option kit.

This is the first one i have had the chance of seeing ........... sorry guys i'm off up the shed as i have enough bits to build one ......... Whoo Who ............

They used those things cutting redwoods in Northern California also. A friend of mine bought 3 used ones for $50.00 each to get the 101Bs and when I asked him what he planed to do with the left over saws the answer was "I thought you didn't want them because the shrouds had holes cut in them for the compression releases so I threw them away" Oh well.
Anyway, two of those 101bs got fully modified into Savin 101s and are now on a Bug Black Widow rat kart with DSL clutchs.
I bought a NOS SP101B for $300.00 from a retired Forestry Worker who said it was the last new saw he bought just before he retired and he knew without a doubt it was the best saw Mcculloch ever sold.

Yes it would be rather nice if i could find out more about these particular 101b's i believe the engines came as a upgrade kit so i need to know about the intake side and carby plus i see they used a special muffler as the SP125C muffler will not fit the 101b without a special adaptor.
I would think that as far as the operators of these beasts were concerned a decompressor for starting was really needed unless you eat heaps and heaps of spinach (Popeye ).

McBob, here's a short story about the Big Macs. About 1980-81 a big burly friend of mine asked me if I wanted to help him do some timber cutting, it was Jan, lots of snow, but the money sounded good. He had a Timber Sale of 40 acres of Veneer grade White and Red Oak, select cut, none less that 30" thru the butt, some nearly 40". He had a little car and behind it towed a trailer. He wanted me to maintain the saws and help cut if I thought I could handle one of the saws. I looked in the trailer and there set two of the 125's, one with a 48" bar and the other a 30"! This is gonna be interesting work says me, and it was, those brutes when tuned and the chains filed right walked thru those hardwood trees like they were warm butter. I tried both saws just to say I did, but my friend being 6'1" and 220lbs did most all of the cutting. Ah, fond memories from days gone by! TL

I used to run a Mac Dealership in Maitland NSW and when i had my bush hat on used to sell and demo the Big Mac's to the Pro cutters of our area i would have more than likely have sold the last 20 or so of the SP125c's into NSW.

These were an impressive saw with a sound of their own and not something that you would drag around the bush all day most out here in Australia would have been used on the timber dump to size the timber ie; bucking to length or ripping the timber length wise.

Some memories will last forever in my noggin anyway .............

I have a old mac saw. The neighbor was cutting up a tree with little 32cc saw. I told him hang on i'll help you cut it up.
brought out the MAc running on left over race fuel of course 114 trick with klots. and use the kart starter to start it thats when the
neighbors got a little worried. cutt the tree up in no time. oh saw has a open reed muffler on it.
between the karts saw and other toys neighbors think i am nuts.

McBob, that's a 84205 muffler assm. from a 895 gear drive on the 101 saw. The 895-C is basically a SP-125-C powerhead only with a gear drive so its muffler won't fit a kart block either. Tom
PS, how about a nikasil bore, forged piston 135cc 101 kart motor in a saw? If they weren't so rare I'd do it for a giggle.

Hey Bob or anyone interested-
I have a Mc790 saw motor (fixed head 103cc) that I picked up with the intent of doing a Mc70 clone. Needless to say, too many projects and too little $$$ (or shop space). Would like to get $100 (what I paid for it) + cost to ship... Would be interested in trades as well. (I really need a decent original Covico or similar steering wheel for a '61 Caretta project. The motor isn't stuck and has tons of compression (nearly tore 'ma arm off), but I haven't fired it up.

PS Jerry you should seen the neighbors when I fired up the Mc91...I was purging the alky with a real rich mix and sent a cloud of smoke through the neighborhood (very un-PC personal mosquito abatement program). Nothing says welcome to the neighborhood like box muffler at close range.
