Shipping via Greyhound

I just had a kart frame shipped to me by Greyhound. Yes,they got it within 50 miles of me and the cost was reasonable. However this was after 2 days of phone calls,sitting on hold forever,trying to communicate with people not fluint in the English language,and being told "I can't help you with that,call this number". After being told they could ship it to my hometown freight collect,I got a phone call from a terminal 50 miles away saying I would have to pick it up there because the terminal in my hometown was not authorized to take freight collect shipments. I'm thankful they got it to me but the whole transaction seemed very unorganized.

I have a good relationship with the Greyhound guy. After he turned me away the first time cuz he didn't like my packaging and thought it was a car fender he has been cool about it ever sense. Both sending and reciving.

I shipped a '61 Wasp from Ontario, Oregon about 3 years ago. I had to sit around their depot for over 4 hours while they played "phone tag" trying to get hold of the right person to come in to handle the transaction. Maybe O.K. from a large volume depot, but, for me, Never Again! Ted

I am sorry to hear that you guys had problems with Greyhound, my experience was totally different.

I shipped a kart out of Roseville, Ca to Athens, Ga without a hitch. It consisted of two packages, the bare frame (packaged) and a box of parts both weighing in around 50-75lbs each. The shipping agent measured and weighed everything to make sure it was within the shipping specs, but didn't bat an eye. On the receiving end, I got a call from the agent telling me the packages had arrived and I drove down and picked them up.

I've also had good experiences with Fed-Ex Ground, they seem to accept odd-ball packages more readily than UPS. I got a kart out of Michigan that was REALLY odd packing job. The guy used 2 rolls of silver duct tape and square boxes over the tires, it looked like a bad 'B' movie UFO prop.

I had a kart shipped from Chicago to my home in California via DHL without a hitch. The sender took off the wheels and steering wheel and secured them to the floor & seat pan. Then, he used an old refrigerator box and plenty of duct tape. $125 total!
