Re: Splined Socket for Rod Bolts
Torx sockets are not the same. They are like a 6 pointed star where the tops of the high spots are pointed. The spline has six channels cut into the side of round head so the tops of the high spots are almost flat... just a little arc. The Torx socket might work but it would not really fit the head ...

Re: Strange discovery on Mc 7 restoration
Terry, On this Mc 7 block the bore in the alloy block on the PTO side is one continuous size from the inside of the block to the outer edge of the seal boss. What you described would make sense but it occures to me that this discovery has ramifications that go beyond the seal alignment. I'm thinking...

Re: Strange discovery on Mc 7 restoration
Rob, After taking some measurments it's clear the factory must machine the side cover details first and then the PTO bore in the bushing is cut to line up with it and they don't worry about the misaligment of the seal to the crank. I have tooling similar to what Scott described and the bushing has t...

Re: Strange discovery on Mc 7 restoration
I've never had a reason to remove one before and always assumed they were concentric parts made to be interchangeable. I would not have removed this one either if not for the visible misalignment of the seal to the crank. I line bored the block to the crank centerline with that bushing in there so t...

Strange discovery on Mc 7 restoration
I was assembling a Mc 7 today that I'm building up from parts gathered here and there and found something very surprising. After installing the crank it had a lot of drag so I was looking very close at everything and noticed that the PTO side crank journal seemed to be offset to one side in the seal...

Re: Wanted Nylite wheels
Don,
Did you have any problems getting the tires on the Kelite wheels? I have a set and I can barely get the tire started on the rim.... not even close to the bead area.

Re: Mc1 Restoration Project
Scott, Beuatiful restoration job and thanks for posting the pics of the internal parts. Is it my imagination or is the rod journal on the crank wider that the other Mac cranks? Interesting to see how little counterweight is on the crank... must have been limited to about 3,000 rpm. Regards, Steve O'...
