Re: how to wreck a vintage kart resource
I know I'm speaking out of school.
I listed a Caretta 6 years ago with a $1600 reserve and it reached $850 bidding on e-bay. I sold it the same week for $3,200. Guy's in vintage karting don't like the idea of bidding against each other. The best deals are on Criagslist, only if the seller has Paypal.

By 1967 most of the guy's were in to laydowns. And that was dominated by Hornets with Komets. I was checking out a Caretta for $750 but the jackshaft Caretta couldn't run with the Hornets. You could buy a brand new VW beetle for $1300, and a new Mustang for $2,600. Cobra's and E-Jag's were $5,995.

Re: Caretta help needed
Tuck and rolled Caretta's. I raced Hillsboro back in the sixty's. I remember a guy running a single engine brand new McCulloch kart with a brand new Mc-7, he drove off leaving all the Caretta's, Darts, Fox's and Bug's way behind, winning by a half lap. When the race was over they pulled the head of ...

Can anyone tell me if the crank marked1126/3-1 is a stock crank, or is that a W or M on on the underside of the piston?

Re: Caretta Kart ID
This is a early Caretta, one of the first with sissy rails or they might have been added later. The frame rails ran straight to the dead rear axle. When I saw this kart for sale I thought the seat back had been altered but its stock.
