McCulloch Mc49 - Horsepower Rating
Does anyone know what the approximate horsepower rating is for an Mc49? I am just curious. I remember the old factory stock standard 100cc engines like Mc7-9 were about 10 horse, about 1HP/lb. But I have never seen anything on the 80cc Mc49. I have one to restore and want to set it up for my grandso...

Re: You guys wore me down...
Hi Randy, I just took a look at the sectioning you did on the steering wheel. Nice job, you do impressive work!! Question: What do you plan for the rubber part? The reason I ask is that my R1 wheel had good metal but the rubber had big chunks out of it. I used black urethane epoxie to build up the m...

Re: Mc9 cylinder hone question...
Excellent Article,
I always wondered about the tool steel vs chrome rings and I never thought about the rings being out of round? I have had good luck with the Hartman super sealer rings though, it makes sense. I will use this method from here on out.
Thank you Jeff

Re: Mc9 cylinder hone question...
Wow,
I guess the 3 stone glaze breaker I have used for years is no good!!
Its kind of funny, the McCulloch engine manual says to rough up the bore with some emery cloth!!
I guess you can go just about as far as you want with this stuff so do what you need to.
Good luck Randy

Re: Mc9 cylinder hone question...
Randy, If the bore is nice and round, why not just a few passes with a glaze breaker?? Flex hone is probably better but you don't want it too smooth either to make sure you get a good ring seat. As long as the bore is round and straight, I always just use my trusty small engine glaze breaker I got f...

Mac 101 Starter - Recoil / Cup????
Hi, I just finished the re-biuld of my first Mc101A. This is my first 101, I have built several mac's both standard and super and after finishing it and bolting on a GEM starter cup, I realized that it does not stick out far enough from the flywheel cover to get the starter belt on. So here is my qu...

Looking for Engine Decals - Mc45, Mc101A
Hi,
I am looking for a decalfor my Mc45 and one for my Mc101A.
I have seen them sold on eBay by Zoe as well as another guy who was making repops. Neither of them have anything listed right now.
Any ideas of where I can get them?
Thanks,
Scott

McCulloch 5 Degree Flywheel
Can someone explain the 5 degree flywheel for me and also how to identify? I would appreciate it because I can't tell the difference in the flywheel on my Mc45 to the one on my Mc7 and they are supposed to be different. Any help would be appreciated, I am trying to learn as much as I can about these...
