Re: ALLOWABLE TIRE SIZES

As the old saying goes: "Every clarification breeds new questions." What tires specifically are you referring to? Is "Vintage Speed" a brand name? If you could clarify, so as to be 100% clear........ (Of course, this is why I have asked for someone to write this up somewhere - so it could be clear t...

Re: ALLOWABLE TIRE SIZES

Guys, Haven't looked at this for a while. I thought the site was supposed to alert me to replies to my post, but I guess not. Jeff, thanks for the info on tires. Good stuff. It is curious that they won't allow old YBN and YDS Bridgestones at TBO, as these tires have the same durometer as the Duro's ...

Re: margay wheels

BTW, Terry Ives runs a set of wheels like that on his blue SAE.

He said he pulled the wheels off his enduro kart, which probably had front brakes.

Terry might be a good resource to ask about the hubs and the brakes.

Re: West Bend 700?

The 580 and 700 were really kind of the foundation of karting. As you can read on this web site, Art Ingels used a little bender on his very first kart (though it was marketed as a McCulloch engine - note the yellow paint). The 580 was a great industrial engine and was used on chain saws, cmpactors,...

Re: Wheel ID please

Sorry, not a Manco wheel, though it looks a lot like a Manco wheel. I have a 4" and 5" in front of me as I write this. The webs on the Manco wheels are much thinner than the wheel shown, and have "cylinders" cast into the webs for mounting drive sprockets. In addition, the Manco wheels only had one ...

ALLOWABLE TIRE SIZES

Ok you guys......... I'm pretty new to this vintage karting thing - having shown up with a 100% original Sears Orange Krate at Davis (2007?), and my "new" '64 SAE at Adams (2009), though I couldn't get my 820 to run right (even Vintage Terry was stumped). I'm having a great year with my KT-100 Emmic...
