Re: Simplex Challenger?

Matthew, Welcome to vintage karting. I got into it about 5 years ago and my first event was The Big One hosted by the same people that host this site - Bob & Rob. Going to The Big One gives you plenty of time to get your kart ready since it is held Labor Day weekend in Fremont Ohio which is about a ...

Re: What have I got here

Scott, Welcome to vintage karting. It is a lot of fun to run these old karts and meet with fellow enthusiasts at some of the tracks around the country. You are looking for a carlisle slick. The size you mention came in narrow, regular and wide with the same side wall markings. I have one of the narr...

Re: Chaparral Roller Value?

Michael, My 2 cents for what its worth (probably less than I invested). With two unimounts and the turbine wheels, you could part it out and almost recover your investment. That said, big dollars ahead to restore it: the steering wheel is wrong; you need the Chilton large tank which is hard to find ...

Re: best two cycle oil for running 580 westbend

Ted, I have been running "premium" pump gas between 92 -94 octane with 10% ethanol for 5 years in my Mc 91 with no problems. I use Red Line Kart Oil at a 16/1 ratio and it burns clean and I see no substantial wear with the type of driving we do. The engine has absolutely no carbon build up. If my me...

Re: Wanted a +0.005 or +0.010 Full skirt Piston for Mc9

Steve, I thought about just blocking off the 3rd port with a gasket. When I rebuilt the engine I installed a Reed Sloper ala Mc90 and it ran fine. Then I wanted to take it back to stock to mate with another Mc9 I acquired to create my B Stock dual engine kart that I lusted for as a young teen. I ins...

Re: Wanted a +0.005 or +0.010 Full skirt Piston for Mc9

Pruitt, It has a +0.005 91 piston in it now but I want to take it back to its original configuration with the flat reeds, the third port functioning and a flatback and I learned the hardway that it won't run with the third port and a window piston. I think my friend Carl Haydt has solved my problem....

Wanted a +0.005 or +0.010 Full skirt Piston for Mc9

I am looking ideally for a NOS +0.005 full skirt piston for a Mc 9 that I want to run with the stock manifold. I will take a larger one ( like +0.010 or 0.020 if I must). I have already contacted Terry Ives and he is looking for me too. I have cash or vintage items to trade. Thanks for the help.

Re: red devil sprinter

Dan, I guess they aren't quite coming out of the woodwork? I traded a worn Chrysler WB820 with a GEM mount, dual tillies on a GEM manifold, a Horstman muffler and a clutch for the Red Devil and a beat Mc92, clutch and box muffler. I am loyal to the yellow (and sometimes chrome). I was having a littl...

Re: red devil sprinter

Dan, Thanks for sharing the info and Tom thanks for sending me your pictures. I have taken a few of my kart and posted them at this link: http://photobucket.com/Red_Devil_Sprint_Kart. My kart doesn't look like any of the pictures of others I have seen so far. The ID tag is difficult to read but says...
