Thanks Rob !
I guess I was looking at the 2nd Panther picture on Margay's site, and assumed it was the -X......
Just looked again, and it says that it is the back side of the first picture.
Cool, now to get it back to what it is supposed to be, with correct nerf bars & tank.

What model Margay is this?
At first I thought a Panther or Panther-X, but they don't have the rear seat hoop. So what is it ? Bandido ? Expert ? Wrong wheels, damn automotive steering wheel, and some type of modern nerf bars cobbled onto it. But they are easy enough to correct. 1" frame rails. http://i192.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: looking for way to adapt HR carb to west bend 820
If you notice, the middle 2 bolts on the 820 sidecover are the exact same spacing as an HR carb. You can take a Mac manifold, and cut the reed block part off, then drill the holes strait through. By using longer studs, it will mount right over the 820 side cover. It is best to use an after market si...

Re: History of the 820?
Were the 820s even available in '59 ? And when they finally were available, was there even a class to run 3-8.2 cu in engines ? As Rob Voska just told Lynn "Remember the spirit and intent of this whole deal is to preserve history not change or improve history or not to chase land speed records." Jus...

Re: Hornet Logo
Call them, they are still in business.
I think the name is Waco Tool, and off course, they are in Waco, Texas.
I talked to them a few years ago.
They don't have any hard parts, but I never asked about literature.

Re: Mc9 cylinder hone question...
I have saved frozen ring pistons by soaking them in something more aggressive, like acetone. It will cut old dried up castor oil with time. Get an old jar with a screw top,, add a 50/50 mix of acetone & your favorite penetrating oil. Drop the piston in, screw the cover on, and let it sit for a week....

Re: DXL clutches on Mac 101M/Cs
Pile a lot of weight into it.
Do you have the special 'Z' weights that were originally made for the DXL?
If not, buy some.
The 101 builds way more torque down low than any italian or japanese engine.
You want the clutch to lock up, and go,
not slip 75 feet down the strait.

Re: McCulloch Exotic Fuel Letter 1963 - here is your copy....
Never seen a color change, but we don't let him drive home ! "Friends don't let friends drive drunk" Jeeze, I remember doing pace laps at Blackhawk back in the '60s, and trying to not breath the fumes off the other karts in front of me, and thinking how easy it was going to be to miss the first turn...

I liked model fuel.
Simple, quick..........
I used a gallon of 40% nitro, cut with 4 gallons of menthonal.
Never blew an engine on it.
